Covid-19: Response, Assessment and Action in Minnesota EVENT ARCHIVE

Thank you to all who attended the Third Thursday event – Covid-19: Response, Assessment and Action. It was a great turnout and we appreciate your engagement and questions (we’re getting used to Zoom, but it doesn’t replace face-to-face).

In my introduction I mentioned that we all our experiencing this crisis in different ways and we are not “all in the same boat”. But one thing we do all have in common is a desperate need for strong leadership. We need leaders to help us navigate through all the things we’re experiencing as individuals and as a community.

So thank you Erin Murphy, Francisco Segovia and JaNaé Bates — you fit the bill perfectly! We appreciate how you thoughtfully engaged in the discussion around where we are and where we need to be. We appreciate your insights, strong opinions, and optimism blended with realism. And thank you for challenging us to think about what we all can do to make a difference!

I forgot to mention that the next third Thursday event is on May 21, 6:30-8:00.  The team is working on a wrap up of the current legislative session.  Because you registered for the April session you will automatically be added to the email list for the next one.

Thanks again for attending.  Stay safe and stay home (as you are able).

The coalition is made up of political resistance groups that started after the 2016 election. The coalition will be taking turns hosting the monthly events focused the Minnesota Legislature through the lens of issues advocacy.

April 16: Covid-19: Response, Assessment and Action in Minnesota

The life-threatening seriousness of the current pandemic is bringing out the best in many of us — in Minnesota and across the country. But the crisis is also revealing the sharp (and often deadly) social disparities in our state and the limits of our government to shelter us when our economy falters.

Join us next Thursday to be part of an important conversation with…

  • Erin Murphy, Exec. Dir. of Our Stories, Our Health, and state senate candidate for SD64
  • JaNaé Bates, Communications Director at ISAIAH, leading on Minnesota Covid 19 Response
  • Francisco Segovia, Exec. Dir. of COPAL (Comunidades Organizando el Poder y la Acción Latina)

We’ll cover the state legislative response to the crisis, what this crisis has revealed about the inequities and vulnerabilities in our communities (especially around health care), and what actions we must take to ensure that all Minnesotans are being taken care of now and moving forward.

This month’s Third Thursdays is virtual and will be hosted by Indivisible Saint Paul. We are lining up other panelists from the Minnesota legislature and non-profit sector. Stay-tuned as we get those panelists confirmed.

How does our digital program work?
